Sign up for GPL registry code details
NZRS has a page on their website for those interested in getting further details and annoucements on the GPL release of the registry code. Also note at this time the last two months have had 100% uptime of the .nz registry systems.

SRS and open source
Last week it was announced that the .nz registry application was being released as 'open source'. The good news is that GPL is being used. I understand that Catalyst IT, the company that was paid to write the registry system, was recommending that "BSD" license being used. I will let those with some free time to see for themselves why Catalyst IT might have suggested "BSD" over GPL.

I could only find IDG covering this announcement outside of InternetNZ/DNC.

Note: When I use "BSD" I am referring to the revised BSD post advertising agreement such as X10/11.
