Question: Number of completed DRP questionaires
The DNC website has had for more than a year a questionaire online " ...seeking feedback from those who have had experience of dealing with domain name disputes.".
Anyone want to take a guess on how many questionaire's have been completed?

.nz zone file transfer submission process
It is not too late to provide a submission on the exciting world of .nz zone transfer polices!
I know your heart is just racing at the moment but time is vital, you have until April 5th to do this. As yet only Ewen and I have provided a submission on this. Ewen and I were also the only two people to provide comments on what a possible policy should include. While I have no issues with Ewen and I ruling the world providing the only comments it would be nice is others did... for a change.
PS I heard a rumour that those that provide a submission get free unlimted access to the .nz zone file.. hurry... while stocks last!

ISOC paper on DNS 101
ISOC has released a paper for 'non experts' explaining the DNS. I had a quick read and it looks quite good.

InternetNZ spending plans in NZ Herald
Herald has a story on the spending plans of InternetNZ. David Farrar, President Vice President, is quoted. The one issue I have is that after the Domainz sale monies is gone how is InternetNZ going to get used to living off lesser income. That is unless major change occurs in its funding model. Lets hope they are working very hard on sponsorship and other funding from industry and not the nearly 100% from registrants as it is now.
Also the story does not make it clear that all the DNC costs are funded by NZRS on a management fee, in fact NZRS pays more that the actual costs to help create surplus for the DNC just in case the shit hits the fan. My views are well known about the management fee and the costs not being the same dollar amount.

Herald on bill collecting using domain transfers and threats
NZ Herald has a story about some 'dubious' events around bill collection which have involved a domain name. Interesting reading. Simple lesson, you have to trust those people listed under your registration details. Also The Biz has details on the National Party website and about the telecon.co.nz domain name.

InternetNZ 'watching brief' on Verisign vs ICANN
IDG has a story about InternetNZ having a 'watching brief' on the Verisign vs ICANN lawsuit. This is like saying 'I read IDG every day to keep abreast of IT stories'. The other thing in it is it brings up the UN/ITU bugbear. No one has yet said why the poorly run ICANN which has no real external input would be better than a UN/ITU run approach. Many people say things like "The alternative to ICANN running things, says Macaulay, is too much to bear." yet never state why they think this is the case!

.de supports umlauts and gets 600,000 applications
The Register has a story on .de and IDN's (International Domain Names). .de appears to have received 600,000 applications for names containing umlauts (like this ü and ö).
I think that if .nz can support macrons (a vowel with a ¯ over it to show it is a long vowel) it would be good. But lets wait for the international agreement to occur on how to do this and not have to use plugin's and other half arsed tools until then.

DPF ICANN write up on his blog
David Farrar has a small write up on the recent ICANN meeting on his blog. I think that a summary, with a promise of a full report, of an ICANN meeting attended by InternetNZ being first placed in the pubic arena has never been done before. In the past Sue Leader and Keith Davidson would sometimes do an update to members via email during a meeting but never in public. Of course sometimes reports which are often months late would appear on the InternetNZ website. These late reports, in my opinion, are dubious as what is listed is often as political as what was left out.

ccNSO formed
The ccNSO has formally been created now having the required min. number of members from each region. The list of ccNSO members is more notable for who is not a member, rather than who is, esp. in Europe.
