APTLD Ltd is born
APTLD Limited was 'born' on December 17th. One thing I was wondering was who the directors would be and it is the Executive Director of InternetNZ, which makes sense (other than in 6 months that will need to change). The one curious thing, but it is not material, is that the forms were submitted by The Number One I.T. Group which its only director is Peter Macaulay. I wonder what else this company does on behalf of InternetNZ?

Something for the new year
This is unrelated to domain names but I thought I would give comment on this. I am subscribed to the Borowitz Report. For anyone that follows, to any degree, American politics or events the reports are normally laugh out loud funny. Each day they are written as a news article and arrive in my mail box in time for me to read it in the morning. I must admit it is a great start to the day reading these reports.

.nz saves money!
According to DPF Peter Dengate-Thrush is about to be appointed to the ICANN board. This is great news as Peter has been trying to get on this board for at least 4 years and it means that most of his travel to these pointless meetings will now be funded by ICANN and not .nz registrants. His being a board member I would think would conflict him now on many of his other TLD lobby aspects, but then again declaring conflict is not one of his more known abilities.
