parliament.nz submissions have closed
The submission process for the parliament.nz 2LD application closed yesterday. 3 submissions were sent in on the last day, one from me, and one from DIA and SSC. The ones from DIA and SSC I think are the kiss of death for the application. When Mark Prebble says "While the Commission does not see this as a necessary move, given that it is unlikely that the public will appreciate the distinction, I have no objection to the proposal." you know that the .govt.nz confusion aspect has come home.

Centr and ICANN: Scene 3, Act 2
An interesting 'tiff' is occurring between Centr and ICANN (one could say it is just getting more public as the tension between these two entites has always been high). The Register has a rather good story on a recent letter exchange between Paul Kane (Chair of Centr) and Paul Verhoef (VP at ICANN). Often The Reg has one side stories and such like but the ICANN related reporting is normally very good. Well worth a read.

.nz Disputes WG final recommendation
The .nz Disputes Working Group has released their final recommendation for a domain name dispute process for .nz. It is based on the Nominet model. I find it interesting that the WG was not overly in favour of the WIPO UDRP model yet cites that experts are available as some New Zealanders are WIPO panelists.
